Ecorys conducts LIFE mid-term evaluation for the European Commission

April 14, 2016 - Ecorys supports the EC Directorate-General for Climate Action and Environment with an evaluation of the LIFE projects from 2007-2014. The project covers all 28 European Member States and will give a first estimate of the expected impact of projects. The project runs from April 2016 to early 2017.

The main objective of the project is to evaluate the outcome and expected impact of projects funded by LIFE and LIFE+. Information on the performance of the projects will come from site visits and interviews experts and project managers of the environmental, nature and climate change projects. In additions, online surveys will be conducted to gather information and opinion from the general public, and from national contact points, beneficiaries  and contracted project monitoring experts. Another important source of input for the evaluation are interviews with key staff members in various EU Directorates and Institutes.

The evaluation follows principles outlined in the latest Better Regulation Guidelines and focusses on the efficiency, relevance, coherence, effectiveness and EU value added of the LIFE Programme. Furthermore the evaluation  will estimate the impact of the Programme to date, its level of sustainability and provide the EC with recommendations on overall possibilities to simplify the management of the programme.
